Winter

Kaprun offers a great deal to the ski or snowboard fan. There is an excellent beginners slope on the Lechnerberg right in the centre of Kaprun directly opposite the apartment. From here you can walk over to the Schaufelberg, which offers some gentle blues, several reds and a rail park. Here you can avoid the crowds and also sample the traditional atmosphere of the mountain restaurants. You can then choose to explore the tree-lined routes of Zell am See or head up to the glacier, where you can ski some gentle slopes at 3000m and enjoy excellent snow conditions. All of this is covered by the Europa Sportregion ski pass, which also includes the regular ski bus. The nearest bus stop is approx 200m from the flat.

Other activities are also available during the winter. Cross country skiing is very popular and guided snowshoe walks are also available. You can take a sleigh ride or go trekking with Lamas. You can walk across the frozen lake at Zell or go ice skating at the Zell ice rink. Kaprun has an excellent indoor swimming pool and sauna.  There are plenty of restaurants to visit in the evening and there are some lively pubs for those seeking to burn the candle at both ends.
